Guatemala, Part 9 (Report-Back)

Here is the continuing story of our mission trip to Guatemala. . .

Sunday (8/4/2013)

This past Sunday, we had the report-back service at our church for the Guatemala mission trip. Also reporting back was a college student from our church who just returned from interning in England for the summer.

Doing a report-back is a big challenge for me. I could literally talk for hours about a trip. Boiling down an entire week of ministry into a one- or two-minute highlight is so hard!

I think one thing in common that we all talked about was the sense of family and true community in the Guatemalan church. In most American churches, people only see each other on Sundays. They really don’t do anything together during the week days. In the Guatemalan churches we visited, the believers truly did life together. The depth of their relationships is encouraging and inspiring!

The relationships between the members of our team really grew during the trip as well. We hope to have a team get-together later this summer for some Guatemalan food, games, and photos from the trip. And it sounds like the missionaries we served will be coming to Texas in October! We’re all thrilled about that! So stay tuned for potentially more Guatemala-related posts in the future. J
